Biography
Clem Newton‑Brown OAM is the visionary founder and CEO of Skyportz, Australia’s pioneering company developing a patent to support a global network of vertiport infrastructure. With a multifaceted career spanning politics, law, urban planning, and entrepreneurship, Clem brings a unique combination of expertise to the future of urban mobility.
A qualified barrister and town planner with degrees in Law and Arts from Monash University, Clem launched his professional path in legal practice before entering public service. At just 32, he became Melbourne’s youngest ever Deputy Lord Mayor and later served as the Member for Prahran in the Victorian Parliament.
Under his leadership, Skyportz has secured provisional patent protection for a modular vertipad system designed to safely manage eVTOL downwash and outwash and fire suppression. This innovative design will enable urban landing sites from smaller footprints more safely.
The patent won the Innovation Award at the Avalon International Airshow in 2025 and in recognition of his public service, Clem was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2019.
