Biography
With over 25 years at the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Colin has played a key role in shaping the ever-evolving aviation landscape. Throughout his career, he has held various key positions across the CAA, building extensive expertise in aviation policy and technology. His work spans surveillance technology and policy development, with a particular focus on how the use Electronic Conspicuity can help revolutionise airspace access through affordable, low-powered solutions.
As the Manager of Airspace Modernisation Delivery, Colin now leads the CAA’s pioneering efforts to integrate Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations into both segregated and unsegregated airspace, alongside the systems and technologies that enable them. This work is now pivotal in shaping the UK’s approach to innovation and new users in aviation, positioning him at the forefront of airspace modernisation and the future of uncrewed and autonomous flight.
