Manuel Miranda Medina

Biography

Manuel Miranda Medina is the Regional Minister for Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion and Water of the Government of the Canary Islands, a position he has held since 2023. Throughout his career, he has combined extensive experience in public administration, education, territorial planning, environmental management, and innovation.

He graduated in English Philology from the University of La Laguna and began his professional career as a secondary school teacher, serving in the education system for more than three decades. During this period, he also held leadership positions as Director of the Vocational Training Centre and later Director of the Official School of Languages in Puerto del Rosario.

His political career spans over 25 years and includes numerous senior leadership roles at both municipal and regional levels. He served as Mayor of Puerto del Rosario and later held several executive positions within the Island Council of Fuerteventura, overseeing areas such as territorial planning, infrastructure, water management, environmental policy, and economic development.

From 2015 to 2019, he was Director General of the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and the Information Society (ACIISI), where he promoted policies supporting technological development, research, and digital innovation across the Canary Islands.

Today, as Regional Minister, Manuel Miranda continues to lead strategic initiatives focused on sustainable territorial development, water resources, territorial cohesion, and public policy aimed at improving resilience and quality of life throughout the Canary Islands.
