Biography
Montserrat Mestres Domenech is an Aeronautical Engineer (Polytechnic University of Madrid, UPM) and has bachelor’s degree in Economics (UNED). She also earned an MBA at the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona and she has completed the General Management Programme at the IESE Business School.
Montserrat began her professional career at the National Engineering and Technology Company (INITEC, currently Técnicas Reunidas), developing airport consulting projects. In 1998 she joined Centros Logísticos Aeroportuarios S.A., a subsidiary company of Aena (the airport operator), where she worked at Barcelona Airport. She became part of Aena in 2001 and remained there until May 2022, holding various positions in different areas, including the Valladolid Airport Management in 2001, the Head of Facilitation Division in 2008, the Head of Division of Commercial Planning and Real Estate Management in 2012, the Director of Group III Airports in 2017 and the Director of Group I Airports in 2019.
Since May 2022, she has been the Executive Director of the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA).
